See below for 3 simple scenarios to understand how notifications work with Diagnotes and the Apple Watch.

SCENARIOS

Notifications are designed to go to the device that you are currently using, so you will see them as quickly as possible. You will not receive notifications on both the phone and the watch at the same time.

  1. You receive a notification when the Diagnotes app is open on your phone

    1. You will receive a notification in the app

    2. You will not receive a notification on the watch

  2. You receive a notification when the phone is open, but the Diagnotes app is in the background

    1. You will receive a notification in the notification center at the top of the screen

    2. You will not receive a notification on the watch

  3. You receive a notification when the phone is locked

    1. You will receive the notification on your watch - but your iPhone will not vibrate, ring, or light up.

    2. When you open your iPhone, you will see the notification on your lock screen, unless you already dismissed it on your Apple watch

Note that if the Apple watch is locked, is disconnected from your iPhone, or is not paired with your iPhone, notifications will work as if there is no watch and all notifications will go through the iPhone.
